An expensive and disappointing experience. I found Callaway Gardens to be a huge disappointment, primarily due to the complete indifference shown by the management and staff at the facility. The gardens themselves are very average, and the facilities are rather old and overpriced. There is very little to do at Callaway, or in the town of Pine Mountain. Restaurants at Callaway are extremely limited and very expensive.

Overall I found the whole experience to be a very big disappointment, and I would strongly encourage others to consider spending their money at an alternative venue.

CHRISTMAS..... What a LIGHT SHOW!. We have been going to Callaway Garden for the Christmas Light Show for over 20 years. This is what makes us all feel like the Season is upon us. It doesn't matter how you do it! Stay overnight at the Hotel or Drive back and forth.... Ride the Jolly Trolleies or Drive your own car... IT IS MAGNIFICENT! Snowflake Valley grows every year and we all sing along with the "Maids A Milkin"...You hope for a chilly but clear evening and the "Santa's Village" adds to the FUN. Give yourself, your family and anyone you love and care about a TREAT.... Start a tradition of your own. WELL WORTH THE EFFORT!

Thousands of acres of perfectly manicured gardens.. The Scene
You'll find all things horticultural--manicured or au natural--as well as championship golf courses, a tennis complex, fishing lakes, hiking trails and 10 miles of paved bike trails and 14,000 acres. During the summer, swing by Robin Lake Beach--the world's largest man-made, white sand beach--for swimming, sunbathing, paddleboats and miniature golf. You'll want to spend a whole day, or a weekend, exploring the beautiful 50-year-old gardens.

The Draw

At the Horticultural Center, paved garden paths curl through ingenious indoor enclosures and stunning outdoor spaces--harmony and hummingbirds everywhere. Mr. Cason's Vegetable Garden is a pleasant surprise for kids, and the Butterfly Center, the country's largest glass-enclosed conservatory, shows off the color and flutter of more than 1,000 butterflies and nectar-rich plants. The 40-acre azalea garden is stunning, especially in the prime blooming month of April. The Discovery Center offers demonstrations, workshops, exhibits and musical programs tailored to kids.

Heaven on Earth. I enjoyed visiting the Butterfly garden. They also have a great beach to enjoy during hot summer days and great "fantasy-in-lights" show during Christmas where they offer train rides through the gardens for families to view the wonderful lights while drinking cocoa. I love to come here to get away and spend time with my family.

Bikes and Butterflies. We used to beg my mom to take us to Calloway gardens so that we could rent bikes and ride around on the trails all day. The butterfly garden enclosure is an excellent stop!
